Venue Spotlight: Lost Creek Winery

Jennifer Morris

There’s no doubt that Loudoun County has become a desirable location when it comes to planning a wedding. From rolling hillsides to historic landmarks, Northern Virginia is the new go-to when couples envision their big day.

What has made this area even more attractive, within the last year, is the fact that Loudoun County is no longer considered “tent city” thanks to vendors like The Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek who are filling the void when it comes to an indoor location. The local vineyard has recently taken countryside weddings to a whole new level since taking over The Harvest House, located just to the left of the winery, last year.

The Harvest House

I was fortunate enough to experience the new location shortly after it opened during Miss’ Ola’s wedding. She had a specific look when it came to her floral arrangements, which were filled with some of her favorite vibrant colors. We used romantic and garden style flowers that worked very well in the space even though the surroundings are suitable for any color palette you can think of.

The site sits on 50-acres of land and offers three ceremony locations – on the front steps of the plantation’s home…

or near the rows of sauvignon, cabernet and merlot grapevines, which separates the site from the winery.

Inside, the home offers a bridal and groom suite, located on the second floor. Both are on opposite ends of the hallway and are large enough to accommodate each wedding party for the entire day.

On the main floor, cocktail hour is available while French doors lead guests to an outdoor patio. The main bar is positioned beneath a beautiful white pergola, which could easily be adorned by flowers.

To the right is The Carriage House, a reception hall large enough to hold 175 guests. Dining is available through Celebrations Catering and Chiavari chairs along with 5 1/2 foot round tables really add to the elegance of this room.

There are a number of arrangement options that would complement the setup of any reception held at this location.  During Miss’ Ola’s, we simply placed arrangements that were paired with her dress, tablecloths and lighting of the room.

In the back of the Carriage House, there is a platform area that allows guests to step outside underneath bistro lights that hang from surrounding trees. Fire pits are even in the near future.

An added bonus is that the property provides ample parking and is handicap accessible. There is a round driveway that even accommodates large limos and buses.

In 2014, Lost Creek hosted 72 events and 52 of them were weddings. Between the beautiful landscapes and award-winning wines there’s no doubt that it will grow in popularity as Loudoun County continues to set a trend for area brides and grooms. I look forward to working with them again in the near future.
