I am pleased to announce the calendar for our 2017 classes. We really enjoyed working with the members of our 2016 classes as we explored new techniques and discovered interesting and unique flower varieties. Our schedule for this year is so varied and new that you could sign up for all eight classes and leave our intimate studio knowing that your skills continue to expand and improve.
Here’s a recap of each topic. If you check our classes page with each new season, you will find photos and even more detailed explanations of each class.
We always want to teach you about the unique and un-explored flower varieties that are available to us here in the United States. Using different varieties forces you to become better at stem analysis. So, we are using very special Double and Ruffled Tulips, Ranunculus, Astilbe, white Hellebore, Privet Berry, Geranium Leaves and the incredibly-scented Eriostemon. I will also introduce you to the traditional and non-traditional tricks for forcing bulbs in just about anything. You’ll go home with your arrangement and a forced bulb with stones in a glass cylinder. There’s a lot more detail about this class on our “classes” page. Simply choose the link below when you are done exploring the rest of our offerings. Cost of the class is $125.
You will be invited to choose your stems (and your vase) from our own French-style flower market, creating your own color palette, and as the evening unfolds — your own design. I will teach the concepts that my team and I employ to create the one-of-kind-arrangements that are the foundation of our company. Like all of our classes, this is a beginner to advanced class as I will carefully review the important techniques for designing in water. The cost of this class is $90.
Whether you are celebrating Easter, Passover or the advent of Spring, you will love the “living arrangement” that we will create in our April class. We intend to use live plants, bulbs and branches to create an arrangement that will become a lasting part of your décor. Pansies, Mosses, Mini Ferns and Succulents create a nest for the anticipated bulb flowers. Flowering branches will create movement and dimension. The cost of this class is $100.
A hand-tied bouquet is the height of sophistication and the pinnacle of floral design, and I can teach you the beginning skills in just one evening. You’ll hold your work in your hands as you add each new stem. We will wrap the stems and finish with ribbon. The bouquet will stay fresh in a bit of water and make a wonderful gift for your mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend… In fact, bring along a special guest and save 10% on your guest’s class fees – we’ll even split the savings between you so you can go “dutch.” The cost of this class is $125.
Tablescapes are all the rage. They are the marriage of all of your décor elements –florals, greenery, containers, candles and even lighting. We’ll work with mason jars and cut flowers for our tablescape creating unique candle holders and arrangements as we explore the varieties that will be available locally during our Loudoun County summer. Cost of thie class is $100.
I studied French and Art History at Albion College and have spent time in the world’s most renowned Art Museums. My staff is looking forward to testing my academic training as I use one of my favorite paintings (think Georges Seurat) as inspiration for our September design. I am really looking forward to dusting off my Art History books, but, more importantly, I am excited to talk about how my staff and I find inspiration as we design each of our arrangements. We will work in water but will also talk about some of the other methods that we use when we create our designs.

“I have attended several of the floral design classes and I love them! I have learned so much. The arrangements are beautiful, classic and contemporary at the same time. Jennifer and her team go the extra mile to make sure every student is having a great time and provides as much assistance as requested so every arrangement made looks like a professional made them.”
We have moved this class to the Tuesday before Thanksgiving so that the arrangement you create can adorn your table or be presented as a gift just two days later. We will plan the design for this piece closer to the Holiday so that we can focus on the colors and style that are most relevant for fall 2017. But, you can plan to create a low, lush arrangement that complements great dinner conversation (or even inspires it). As always, I will make sure we work with some less common varieties of flowers. Cost of the class is $100.
Let’s make a mantlescape and wreath for your favorite room in your home. Again, here’s another lifetime skill that will make you the toast of the neighborhood and a go-to among friends and family. “Need a wreath for that? I can help you. Want your mantle greens to stay fresher? Let’s make them in foam.” From seasonal to exotic, our stems and greenery will be eye-catching and beautiful. I can’t wait to share these skills with you. Cost of the class is $125.
The deadline to enroll in our class package is March 30. Simply call our studio today to pay in advance for 6 or more classes and we will reduce your class fees by 15%. You can email us with any questions by contacting Heather at heather@jmorrisflowers.com or use the form below.
